Ending June with Three Highlights
First highlight:
A few months back, Purvi joined the institution I work at. And she found out that I generously welcome teachers to come into my class, observe my teaching, and share their reflections. So Purvi jumped in.
After two months of classroom observation and discussion, we shared her final reflection and learnings, in the form of a blog.
I too had a great time having her in the class, especially when she also started participating with the students in various classroom activities.
Second Highlight:
Students of my BBA class taking the challenge to do something they had never imagined doing.
That is, as a project work, designing, developing, and delivering a “workshop” on communication skills to school students.
Their task was to do everything on their own. Almost.
So, each group of students had to contact a school, pitch their proposal, and then conduct the workshop. Naturally, they would have to face resistance from the schools, personal challenges, and group-work hiccoughs.
Despite seen and unseen barriers, each group did pull it off.
And, one student from a group even wrote a long reflection of his experience of doing something he had never thought of doing.
Great reflection, Pratyush.
Third Highlight:
Helping our internal staff at King’s College become better at communication, specifically writing.
We are doing this for an hour every week, and will continue for a couple of months more. My focus is on helping the admin staff understand their primary audience, their needs and wants, and then personalize their communication (emails, for instance) to fit to their audience. Also, helping them build their reading habit.
It’s been fun helping them step back and take small steps forward.
P.S.
There’s one more. We resumed one of our “old” programs for teachers. We held the first edition of Empowering Hours after a long hiatus.
The next one is on July 7. Click here to know more or to register for the session.
